Tombstone Corners: 2016 Buildings

Sadly, The Tombstone Corners Halloween village series saw no new minifigures this year.  There were at least a few interesting buildings to add to the village, some of the best in fact.

First off, let's get this out of the way.  There were some figures, but they're freaking giant!  They're okay I guess, but I want residents that are at least close in scale to the buildings.

BOO SCHOOL
This is just what the village needed!  The undead need a good education if they expect to become a successful detriment to society.  They are very strict about punctuality and have looked out that poor ghost.  School starts promptly at 11pm, and the doors have been ghost-proofed, no sneaking in by phasing through.

DOOM HOUSE
Not really much to say about this one.  It's a house.  I like the purple roof.

TOMBSTONE CORNERS HOTEL

Another village staple.  The living check in, and they check out dead.  The giant purple spider is a nice touch and I love the orange roof!  Previous buildings were all pretty bland.

RIP Town Hall
Great new building to add to the graveyard district of Tombstone Corners.  Situated next to the Ghost Train Station and in front of the Village Mortuary.  Reaper loves chilling on the roof.

BONE BRIDGE

Similar in style to the bone gazebo, you gotta have a bone bridge!  No one wants to walk on all that pesky grass.  Residents actually fit on the bridge, unlike the gazebo which is a bit too small.

PUMPKIN WITCH GATE
Not a bad addition, I especially like the Jack-o-lantern.  Sadly didn't come with matching stone walls.  The previous iron gate matches the iron fences better.

ORANGE "OUT" HOUSE
Not stay out, just "OUT". SPOOOOOOOKY! LOL!  "OUT" is in, in Tombstone Corners!  Mr. and Mrs. Monster love to hang outside their home all night.

And there's another way out...

Keeping up with the Jones's dark "OUT" house from a previous line up.

Mr. and Mrs. Witch Pumpkin Home
The clear winner!  Look at this thing, it's perfect!  I wanna live in a giant pumpkin!

There's even a nice side entrance. :)

Does anyone else have a Halloween village?  What do you think of Tombstone Corners this year?  Any tips on making my village spookier/cooler?

Pop Culture League Challenge: Here Comes Halloween! - 2016 Halloween Toys in Review

Pop Culture League Challenge: Here comes Halloween!

Last week, the League was all about fears and frights, and we’re going to wrap up the Halloween theme this week with one last topic. This week’s challenge to the Pop Culture League is…

Here comes Halloween!

It’s the most wonderful time of the year.

The League is always open to new members! Got a blog? Write a post in response to the weekly challenge, and you’ll be included. It’s that easy!
Once you put up a post on your site add a comment below with the URL. Try to incorporate at least three of your fellow League members’ links (but more would be great!) into the article you wrote, or you can also link to them on social media.
By cross-posting like this, we will help each other out by sending new readers to each other’s sites. Have fun!
(Wondering what the heck this is all about? We’re recruiting for this loose-knit, rag tag crew! Here are the details for contributing to The League.)
This will likely be my last post for a while.  I wanted to post every day in October, but alas, I'm too dag gum busy!  To wrap up the final Pop Cultue League challenge for Halloween I thought I would share my thought on 2016's Halloween toy must haves.
LEGO Series 16
There were 3 must have's from LEGO Series 16, and I finally found the ones I was looking for:
Cyborg Woman, Devil Boy, and Vamp Boy

Imaginext Series 7
Fisher Price Imaginext really knocked it out of the park again! I really want almost all of these, but two of them are way too good to pass up for sure, Pumpkin Ghost, and A FREAKING GHOSTBUSTER!!!!
Check out that PKE Reader!

Awesome Proton Pack!

Playmobil Mystery Fi?ures series 10

THE STILT GHOST!!!  Halloween 2016's unofficial mascot!  Just look at him!

Stilt Ghost

Isn't he glorious!?  The only really Halloweeny figures, unless you count the cool wizard and the new robot, which was included in my submission for Day 24 of the #Miniween2016 challenge on Instagram.

Mechanical Monstrosity
When I first tried to put this guy together his arm shot off and I couldn't find it for weeks!

Hot Wheels 2016 Halloween Cars

Normally Mattel's Hot Wheels releases 5 special Kroger/Fred Meyer exclusive Halloween versions of their vehicles, and sometimes Target also has their own exclusives.  This year we saw 8 new Halloween cars!  Check them out!

Bone Shaker, this one has seen may Halloween versions.  I like the spectral wheels

Audacious

Deora II, my favorite this year!

16 Angels

Ryura LX

Dieselboy

Blvd. Bruiser & Vandetta

McDonald's The Great Pumpkin

That pretty much covers the 2016 Halloween toy high lights.  Did I miss something good? What toys did you pick up?

Halloween cometh for these Pop Culture League members as well:

Funko Infects Playmobil

I heard through the grapevine that Playmobil will be creating franchised figures, including Ghostbusters and Dr. Who!?  Wow, cool!  I dug a little deeper and found out that we have Funko to thank for Playmobil's franchise themed figures.

Now for the bad news, the figures will be 200% bigger than normal Playmobil figures, sold as figures alone without playsets,  and will retail for more at $14.99.  So, they will not be in scale with other themes and will cost more. BOOOOOO!  Take it away Pixel Dan!

Skip to 2:27-3:14 for a look at the Playmobil-Funko abominations.

What do you think?  Do you like the looks of the new Playunko figures?  Or did Playmobil sell their soul to Funko?  Tell me in the comments below!

Pop Culture League Challenge: Are you scared?

Last week, the League was all about Zombies, and we’re going to continue with the Halloween theme this week with a topic suggested by Calvin’s Canadian Cave of Cool. This week’s challenge to the Pop Culture League is…

Are you scared?

What frightens you the most?
What frightens me the most?  This thing...

This ghost still haunts my nightmares.  The story is a bit silly, but still quite disturbing.  For some reason this image, of all the frightening images from the Scary Stories series, has been cemented into my psyche.  Stephen Gammell is a genius, a dark dark genius.

Does anyone else remember these books?  What images or stories messed you up?  Tell me in the comments below!

What scares other League member?  Find out below:

A Magic Puppy, a.k.a. A Halloween Puppy

Are you looking for a terrible movie to watch for Halloween?  I dug up a real stinker on Netflix, The Magic Puppy! Or is it The Halloween Puppy?  The movie just can't seem to make up its.  I technically wouldn't even consider this a Halloween movie.  More like a horrible movie that happens to take place on Halloween.

The movie reminds me of Cool Cat Saves The Kids, and if you have seen that then you know exactly what you're in for.  Enjoy?

Halloween Minecraft 2016: Hagatha's Witch Hut

I love the cackle of the Minecraft Witch!

So, I decided to bag me a witch by tagging one and named her Hagatha.  She nearly killed me with a poison potion, but I was able to lure her onto a walled in property I had prepared.  I later had to lure her into a trap to contain her whilst I built a fine witch hut and cauldron area.  Now I can stop by anytime and say hi to my neighbor, only she's not very appreciative.  The old hag hit me with a potion of slowness while I was sheering my sheep.  How rude!

Fun fact, did you know if a Villager is truck by lightning they are transformed into a Witch?  That's a rock fact!
