Matinee

Matinee isn't exactly a Halloween/horror film, but I love it just the same.  There are still plenty of horror references with the film within the film "Mant",real world monster magazines from the 50's, and the story takes place during Halloween.  In this period piece John Goodman stars as a (somewhat William Castle like) small-time film promoter.  The fictional film "Mant" is reminds somewhat  of "The Fly".  (The 80's remake of The Fly was and still is a fond, terrifying childhood memory of mine.)

Overall it's a fun little 90's classic that will raise your Halloween spirits.  It's surprisingly hard to find, so if you see this in some Walmart $5 bin or something snatch it up
