Creepmas 2016 Day 13: The 3rd Annual Toytivity Scene

For the past 3 years I have been creating what I like to call my "Toytivity".  Largely inspired by one of my favorite holiday classics, Merry Christmas Mr. Bean.

I was lucky enough to find a decent nativity set from the DI on the cheap so I can use the manger to really sell it.  2016 is my favorite so far.  I only wish I owned more female action figures.  A Blackstar demon will have to do for now.

I'm certainly not the first to create a nativity scene using action figures.  Check out more at http://unrealitymag.com/images/the-action-figure-nativity-scene-contest/

Have you created your toytivity yet? If so, I wanna see it! If you haven't created one yet, then what are you waiting for!?

Creepmas 2016 Day 12: Frankie's Holiday

Just saw this Apple commercial.

Creepmas 2016 Day 11: Christmas Cheese Storm

What's worse than bad movies?  Really bad Christmas movies! Is this a Creepmas post? I dunno, close enough though.  Here's my list of cheeseball Christmas movies, some of which I admit are a guilty pleasure.  From the garbage "so-bad-it's-good" territory we get closer to #1.

Dishonorable mention:

Ernest Saves Christmas

I just love this film and Jim Varney so much I couldn't bare to put it on the list.  Plus, Ernest films do cheesy just right and are totally self-aware, so it works.  Plus, did you know My Pet Monster makes a brief cameo as he emerges from Santa's magic sack?  Even Ernest's best pal Vern (from the TV show) is in the film, though just like the show, you never actually see Vern, just his POV as Ernest wreaks some holiday havoc.

8. Disney's The Search for Santa Paws, & Santa Paws 2: The Santa Pups (cringe time)

7.  Beethoven's Christmas Adventure

Speaking of dogs, did you know there are like 10 freaking Beethoven movies?  Who doesn't love Beethoven?  You'll love him even more now that he can speak, joy!

6. The Christmas Tree (1991)

If you hate yourself you can watch the whole thing on YouTube!

5. Holiday in Handcuffs

It's good to see the Sabrina the Teenage Witch actress still found works after the series ended...

4.  Christmas With The Kranks

Tim The Tool Man, we love ya buddy.  Starring Dan Aykroyd as good old Vic Frohmeyer, and that one kid from Malcolm in The Middle!

3.  Disney's I'll Be Home for Christmas (a lot of Disney films on this list)

Here we have the The Tool Man's favorite son. What's the actor's actual name again?  Whatever.

2. The Star Wars Holiday Special

George Lucas has to live with this one for the rest of his life.

1.  Jingle All the Way, & Jingle All The Way 2 (this has a sequel!?)

Arnold really makes this one magical.  "Put the cookie down!" Never gets old.

Creepmas 2016 Day 9: Mad Ball Ornaments

I was at a loss today.  I was running out of Creepmas things to write about, and then I saw these:

Madball ornaments by Middle of Beyond!

Well, nuff said.

Creepmas 2016 Day 8: Dead Rising 4 Christmas Challenge

A really lame, weird commercial.  Some guy named Blake plays an Xbox game about zombies...

Creepmas 2016 Day 7: GPK Book

The wife got me the awesome newish GPK book for my birthday in November!  It has a nice introduction by Art Spiegelman and an afterword by John Pound.  In between are full color pictures of all the original series 1-5 GPK cards!

The book's even on the smallish side, making it feeling like a jumbo waxpack.  The sleeve even has that waxy feel to it!

And now, more CreePeeKay related cards from series 1-5:

Creepmas 2016 Day 6: When Santa Fell to Earth

I recently checked out a weird Christmas movie from the local library, because I'm poor and cheap like that.  It's a German film entitled When Santa Fell To Earth.  It was mostly super cheesy and horribly dubbed, not really scary.  There was a strange conversation between a mother and child about cocoa beans, Mayan rituals, and "confectioneries".

Our Santa character, or "the last real Santa" is basically Dr. Who meets Old Saint Nick.  He even has his own TARDIS-sleigh that is "bigger on the inside".  Santa's traveling companions include two fairy sized "angels" and two CGI elves.

The movie has the stereotypical  "gotta save Christmas" plot, as the last real Santa is hunted down by the evil Waldemar Wicheteltod, "goblins" (they look human to me), and sinister nutcrackers.  Waldy wants to rid the world of all Santas and leave the gift giving to parents.  I don't know why, for peace and order?

If you have to fold laundry one night, or don't feel like moving or thinking, then give this movie a watch!

(Wondering what the heck this is all about? We’re recruiting for this loose-knit, rag tag crew! Here are the details for contributing to The League.)

The full range of Z-Bots figures, vehicles, and play sets can be quote daunting for a Z-Bots collector. There don't seem to be many Z-Bots fans.  It was a weird toy series, especially being under Galoobs Mirco Machines banner.  Luckily, I am not a completionist, and while I may be envious of those with super rare series 4 figures and hard to find play sets, I am quite happy with my collection.  Here it is!

Not even close to a complete collection, but still an impressive little army.  Gathering them all together for one group shot was no east task, and I can see I missed a few.  If you want to see some closeups of my collection check out the Z-Bots & Voids page of Toy-Disorderly .

Other future toys and collectibles:

Brother Midnight

Pop Culture League Challenge: Red State/Blue State

Pop Culture League Challenge: Red State/Blue State

Last week, the League was all about Pop Culture Presidents, and now we’re going to make things a little easier this week, to hopefully see a few more participants. Where all those Instagrammers at??? This week’s challenge to the Pop Culture League is…

Red State/Blue State

Snap a red and/or blue themed photo.

The League is always open to new members! Got a blog? Write a post in response to the weekly challenge, and you’ll be included. It’s that easy!

Gonna use this opportunity to check out my favorite Topps card series, GPK.  Check out the limited edition 2016 Election cards HERE.
GPK version of "Dump"
Anyone else excited for Trump's new reality show?
Interesting twist on an old classic.  Isn't there a special jail for rich people?  I guess they can afford to bribe their way out

...

Not sure what this is referencing.  I didn't watch the debates, i don't believe in torture.

Feel da Bern!

I don't get this one either. Love that fly though!
This really demeans King Kong and Godzilla!

And the winner is....

Pop Culture League Challenge: Cast Your Ballot!

Last week, the League was all about Halloween, and now we’ll switch gears to another topic that seems to be on everyone’s mind. This week’s challenge to the Pop Culture League is…

Cast your Ballot!

Pop culture presidents.

The League is always open to new members! Got a blog? Write a post in response to the weekly challenge, and you’ll be included. It’s that easy!

Running with Action Figure Barbecue's Re-Halloween idea, I want to take this opportunity to squeeze in some more Halloween discussion.

During the current election cycle I couldn't help but think of one of the Simpson's greatest episodes, Treehouse of Horror VII: Citizen Kang.  The situation in this episode is eerily similar in to our currently reality.  There is even a Clinton involved, voice by Phil Hartman, God rest his soul.

So, who will you vote for? KANG or KODOS?

Tombstone Corners: 2016 Buildings

Sadly, The Tombstone Corners Halloween village series saw no new minifigures this year.  There were at least a few interesting buildings to add to the village, some of the best in fact.

First off, let's get this out of the way.  There were some figures, but they're freaking giant!  They're okay I guess, but I want residents that are at least close in scale to the buildings.

BOO SCHOOL
This is just what the village needed!  The undead need a good education if they expect to become a successful detriment to society.  They are very strict about punctuality and have looked out that poor ghost.  School starts promptly at 11pm, and the doors have been ghost-proofed, no sneaking in by phasing through.

DOOM HOUSE
Not really much to say about this one.  It's a house.  I like the purple roof.

TOMBSTONE CORNERS HOTEL

Another village staple.  The living check in, and they check out dead.  The giant purple spider is a nice touch and I love the orange roof!  Previous buildings were all pretty bland.

RIP Town Hall
Great new building to add to the graveyard district of Tombstone Corners.  Situated next to the Ghost Train Station and in front of the Village Mortuary.  Reaper loves chilling on the roof.

BONE BRIDGE

Similar in style to the bone gazebo, you gotta have a bone bridge!  No one wants to walk on all that pesky grass.  Residents actually fit on the bridge, unlike the gazebo which is a bit too small.

PUMPKIN WITCH GATE
Not a bad addition, I especially like the Jack-o-lantern.  Sadly didn't come with matching stone walls.  The previous iron gate matches the iron fences better.

ORANGE "OUT" HOUSE
Not stay out, just "OUT". SPOOOOOOOKY! LOL!  "OUT" is in, in Tombstone Corners!  Mr. and Mrs. Monster love to hang outside their home all night.

And there's another way out...

Keeping up with the Jones's dark "OUT" house from a previous line up.

Mr. and Mrs. Witch Pumpkin Home
The clear winner!  Look at this thing, it's perfect!  I wanna live in a giant pumpkin!

There's even a nice side entrance. :)

Does anyone else have a Halloween village?  What do you think of Tombstone Corners this year?  Any tips on making my village spookier/cooler?
