Duffy The Mascot (1934)

Duffy The Mascot is an early film incorporating stop-motion animation.  The film is now open domain, so you can find it on YouTube.  The Devil's Ball animated scene is pure nightmare juice!

Toys in The Attic (2009)

The French seem to have a knack for creepy stop motion films.  It just so happens that 'toys in the attic' is a euphemism for insanity.  Makes sense.  Toys in The Attic can be found on Netflix currently.  That Dr. Roach is the creepiest thing in the film by far!

Puppet Master Vs Demonic Toys (2003)

I've actually never seen the Puppet Master movie and have no interest in seeing it, but the puppet characters look awesome! And, of course, action figures were made.  It would be cool to see the action figures and/or puppets in person, but I don't think I would want to keep them.

Puppet Master Vs Demonic Toys is a non-canon made for TV crossover.  Seeing as it was made for TV maybe the gore and any "suggestive themes" would be a little more tame.

Creepmas Day 2: Homemade The Elf on the Shelf

Vintage(?) homemade Christmas Elf! The stuff of nightmares, yes, but I kind of like him/her/it. Just as The Other Mother Witch from Coraline used a doll to spy on children, Santa uses Elves on Shelves.

It's fun to stare deeply into its googly eyes while listening to Santa Clause is Coming to Town. Try it!

Creepmas Day 1: "Wilder Mann"

"Wilder Mann" (Wild Man in German) is a photographic series by Charles Fréger and it is definitely worth a look!

"A primal heart still beats in Europe. Deep beneath the gloss of cell phone sophistication lie rituals that hark back to harvests and solstices and fear of the winter dark. Monsters loom in this shadowy heart, but so does the promise of spring’s rebirth and fertile crops and women cradling newborn babes. It turns out that Europe—at least pockets of it—has not lost its connection to nature’s rhythms.

That connection is rekindled during festivals that occur across the continent from the beginning of December until Easter. The celebrations correspond to Christian holidays, but the rituals themselves often predate Christianity. The roots are difficult to trace. Men—and until recently, it has almost always been men—don costumes that hide their faces and conceal their true forms. Then they take to the streets, where their disguises allow them to cross the line between human and animal, real and spiritual, civilization and wilderness, death and rebirth. A man 'assumes a dual personality,' says António Carneiro, who dresses as a devilish careto for Carnival in Podence, Portugal. 'He becomes something mysterious.'”

The Man Child Turns 32

We celebrated my birthday at the Atomic Arcade on Saturday.  Pizza, video games, friends, and family. It doesn't get much better than that!  I think I would like to go to a skate rink for my big three-three.

 After the party we went grocery shopping for the week and it was the best part of my birthday. Just look at these cuties! 

Thank you to everyone for the happy birthday wishes and gifts. You all made this adult child very happy!
