Mason's Toy World, Coming to YouTube!

I have been itching to start a toy variety/review channel on YouTube and I was finally able to get together with my brother-in-law and our good friend Dan Smith. My brother-in-law, Brad, is an entrepreneur specializing in film, so the footage he shot looks great! The only catch is he doesn't have time to edit. So it is up to me, a rank amateur, to edit the first episode, and probably every future episode.

It took hours, but I finally cobbled together just the intro video. I hope you enjoy this sneak peek into my Toy World. Please tell me what you think, I am open to critiques, pointers, tips, etc.

  1. For some reason the video quality has gone to crap! I saved it as an HD video, maybe it's the terrible Blogger video thingy???

    1. It might be Blogger compressing it.

I enjoyed the music, and the bit at the beginning where the focus moved from the toys in front to the back. For the rest, maybe you can use jump cuts to keep things moving, rather than panning. Really get in there and get some good shots of those toys. Also, it was hard to see the title text with the bright background.

Of course, I'm not even a rank amateur, so I'm not even sure I know what I'm talking about.

Still, it's looking pretty good to me. I'll be looking forward to the first episode.

    2. Awesome, thank you for the feed back! I think I should at least change the title text to black. I was also thinking of including a few shots of me playing with action figures or something, idk, it's a work in progress. :)

    3. Ooh, that would be cool too.

Trust me, I know how hard it is to edit videos. That's why I rarely ever make them. I can also see why they have degrees just for video editing.

    4. For sure! Many people think editing is a cake walk, but it's not. I appreciate even more the work that my bro-in-law Brad does! It's gonna take some work, but I will have the video ready and live before the end of the month, come hell or high water!

    1. Thanks Tony! I like those cheap little Solar Sun Dancers and I thought it would be nice to get a good shot of the beautiful Utah mountain view.

    2. My goal this week is to have Episode 1 edited and posted, with a link to the video right here on my blog in the form of a post. Thanks again for the feed back everyone!

Also, since February's theme is GPK we will be filming Episode 2: Wacky Packages next week and hopefully I can get that edited and posted within a week. The Plan is to film and episode every other week, so I plan on putting out at least 2 episodes a month at first.
