Return of The Aquabats! Super Show!

Gloopy Toys commercial, pre-The Aquabats! Super Show!

If you are fan of the rock n' roll super heroes The Aquabats! then you have heard of The Aquabats! Super Show!  Sadly, through no falt of their own, the show has been cancelled after the 2nd season.

Christian Jacobs (secretly the band's leader, MC Bat Commander, shhhh) had this to say:

Jacobs admitted he was surprised by this turn of events, noting "Everything we heard was that the show has been a real Cinderella story for the Hub and that it was rating really well with viewers. We just assumed that we'd eventually go back into production or at least get picked up for Season 3", but ultimately concluded "it is what it is" in regard to the network's decision. Despite this, Jacobs remained optimistic about the series' future, saying "Given that we now live in a world where people are streaming TV shows directly onto their iPhones & computers, and given that companies like Netflix & Yahoo! are now picking up so much new content for their customers...I just find it hard to believe that The Aquabats! Super Show! is really over. I mean, we haven't even made any toys yet".[7] He concluded by stating "It took us almost 15 years to get that TV series made. And even though we've got a bunch more concert dates lined up for the rest of this year, our first priority is to find a new home for The Aquabats! Super Show!".

Hopefully Super Show! isn't truly over yet and we will someday see real life Aquabats action figures!  I have no doubt this will happen eventually, since Jacobs created the hit TV show Yo Gabba Gabba and there are loads of toys!  Toys are even a topic in the song Playdough, so you know they're near and dear to The Aquabats collective heart.  In the mean time we have The Aquabats Super Vlog to enjoy.

My Blog's Ultimate Mix Tape! (a re-stolen idea)

Derek over at Goodwill Hunting 4 Geeks recently posted his blog as a mix tape. He explained:

"So back in May of last year, Steph over at Nerdjoy posted something awesome (she does this a LOT actually, so be sure to check out the rest of her blog too... but this particular instance informs the post you are about to read, so I'm singling that one out). She answered the question above [What would you're blog sound like if it was a mix tape?]. It was a question originally posited by Joie Fatale over at the Confessions of a Book Pimp blog, but it was through Steph that I discovered the idea."

I thought is was such an awesome idea that I instantly wanted to steal the idea as well! Below is the DIT Ultimate Mix tape, with links to YouTube videos for your listening pleasure! Just click on the song. Enjoy!

DI Treasures 2014 Ugly Sweater Contest

I competed in the Ugly Sweater Contest at work. Check out the invite:

The holidays are upon us and that means it is time for our second annual Ugly Sweater Contest! Join us in the lobby at 2 p.m. tomorrow (December 17) in your ugliest holiday sweater for a chance to win a $25.00 gift card.
Categories include:
  • Epic Fail
  • Overall Fashion Mishap
  • Just Plain Ugliest
  • Most Likely to go Viral.

The competition was fierce and I didn't even place. I wish I had a camera on me, because there were some great sweaters! The best ones are always home made. Besides, I'm not spending $20 on a new ugly piece of crap I will wear once a year! Here's an artists rendition of the coolest sweater in the contest (below). The contestant informed me the sweater was hand crafted by his wife:

Horrible, dark photos captured by HR.

I dressed like a winner, so I'm a winner in my book

So what about you folks? Do you have any hideous Christmas sweaters? I wanna see links in the comments people! (Keep it clean please)

The Aquabats Tour Utah

So yeah, I noticed that The Aquabats! Super Show! is filmed right here in the good old Beehive State! Here are a few locales I recognized:

Ream's Food Store! Ream's is a quick 10 minute bike ride from my childhood home! We used to ride our bikes and roller blade here after school and spend our pennies on candies and other childhood delights.

Camp Tracy! I spent many a winter camp here as a Boy Scout, as well as several Cub Scout day camps.

Lagoon! Utah's premiere amusement park.

The Aquabats also made an appearance at the Salt Lake Comic Con.

The Blue Meanies are coming! The Blue Meanies are coming!

This week’s assignment from the League: I’m feeling blue

It’s been a while since we’ve had a photo assignment for the weekly League of Extraordinary Blogger’s challenge. We’ve done green, and we’ve done red, so how about this time we do:
Blue.
Whoa, now I know I'm way late on this one and I went a little crazy, but heck, it sure was fun thinkin' of all the blue stuff I like!

When I thought of the color blue I immediately thought of the Blue Meanies from The Yellow Submarine movie. My Dad sent me a picture of one of his Yellow Submarine toys. It's George with a Blue Meanie!

What blue themed post is complete without any mention of Blue Laser, the Cheat Commandos sworn enemies. I'm really tempted to order some of these before homestarrunner.com disappears forever. I hope the Brothers Chaps are okay. Does anyone know what happened there?

Let's not forget my favorite superhero band The Aquabats! Someone really needs to create some action figures based on The Aquabats Super Show.

My beloved Captain Crunch T-shirt. The Cap'n cost me $10 plus 3 proofs of purchase. Totally worth it!

My favorite blue-haired Battle Troll, The Trollminator!

Something a little more cuddly, the blue Totoro!

Our brand spanking new local DI!

This Muppet Babies lunch box was under glass in the collectibles section of the DI. For just 5 bucks I had to pick it up! I love that show. It even still had a tag where it was priced at $20. My brother asked if I got it for Ava. I actually got it for myself, but I wasn't about to admit that. If Ava wants to use it when she's older she is certainly welcome to it. :)

Found this a while back at the DI for $5. Not only does it include The WoW Wrath of The Lich King Expansion, The original WoW and The Burning Crusade Expansion was also stuffed inside!

Blue Cosplayers at the Salt Lake Comic Con

I have no idea who this guy was supposed to be. He looked to be at least 60 years old. A guy that old still cosplaying? Awesome!

Don't ask why, but I wore my blue SPAM shirt to Comic Con. I went as SPAM Man. I really like SPAM.

The T.A.R.D.I.S.

Lastly, from the Dollar Store, we have...a blue...Thomas The Tank plush?...Good night everybody!

Is it weird that I wanna go bak to the Dollar Store and buy Thomas The Tank?

Now go check out the other amazing members of The League of  Extraordinary Bloggers that are feelin' blue:
