Frugal Friday: Ninjas Vs. Robots

With the help of my good friend Frank of Little Weirdos fame, I discovered a brand new, little known toy line known as Battle Warrior. Frank introduced the world to the Military Vs. Monsters series of army men style toys. John Gaither, of the legendary blog Robot Monster Space Superhero, got in on the fun as well and posted a review. After seeing all the great sculpts in there I just had to have them! Luckily I spotted the last tube of MvM, and one more tube of Ninjas Vs Robots to boot!

Since we've already pretty much covered our bases with the Monsters, I'd like to introduce Blue team and Red team of the Robot-Ninja universe, by Blip Toys.

The interesting thing with the NvR pack is the color change. With the MvM pack the monsters are clearly Team Hot Pink and Military is Team Classic Army Men Green. NvR changed things up and made both Team Blueberry and Team Blood Red half robot, half ninja! Check it out!

It was hard to get a good picture with these bright red figs.

These 2 Halo sculpts are practically the same.
If I had to choose favorites my first choice would have to be the Samus-Style Megaman on Team Blue!

There are a few subtle differences, like a three-barreled gun on the left hand instead of the right, and a slightly different suit style, but this is clearly Samus Aran. Pretty cool!

And my runner-up is Vega, from Street Fighters! That's 3 knock off video game character sculpts in one tube of NvR. The set of 96 figures cost me just 5 bucks. That's like a nickel a piece! Sure, they're cheap, but man are they awesome! I don't shop at Target very often, but when I do it's because I heard about an awesome toy like this. So go raid your local Target today! I in no way represent Target stores or its affiliates.

Has anyone else come across these amazing toys? Are there any other Army Men style toys you'd like me to know about? Please let me know!

DI Mail: The Trash Man Delivers, to The Maxx!

I recently won a comic consolation prize from Brian, aka The Trash Man of Pop Pop! It's Trash Culture!, and it was amazing! I requested some comics that would be nice to have and he pretty much had everything on my list! When Brian gives he goes big, behold!

The Maxx #1 and #2, What If...Wolverine Was An Agent of Shield #7, Obnoxio The Clown X-Men, Scud #14, Marvel Tales Starring Spider Man #201, The Uncanny X-Men #230, TMNT Adventures #8, and even Marvel's What The...?! #18!

A few weeks prior Brian helped me identify a fuzzy childhood memory of a comic book I once read. Turns out I'm not crazy and this comic does exist and is known simply as "The Maxx". Little did I know a cartoon was produced and aired on MTV. I found that and binge watched it over the course of a couple nights. It's so great to have a copy of The Maxx #1 and #2! The TV show stayed very true to the comics. I'm still getting to reading all of these comics (read the TMNT comic right after The Maxx) and once I have I can tell my friends and family that I have read 9 books over summer "break".

Thanks again Brian! You are truly a kind and giving individual and Inreally enjoy your blog! I know I don't always leave a comment, but I read ALL your posts and Infind them highly entertaining and enjoyable. Keep up the amazing work!

Frugal Friday: Dollar Store Homer

Wooohooooo! I saw Hot Wheels at The Dollar Tree so I thought, what the heck, I'll look through real quick, why not? On the bottom pegs, in the very back, I hit pay dirt!

I only paid a buck for The Homer! Now that's living the American dream. Not one dollar of my money will go in a toy scalper's pocket! Just a few dollars will go to giant toy companies.

This car actually looks great on the streets. The lime-green matches that classic orange pavement.

Frugal Friday will now be a weekly addition to DI Treasures, so check every weekend to see more inexpensive adventures! Now back to the show!

Monday Mail Madness: Brian Lapsley's Surprise Pack #2

So many generous souls have been sending all sorts of awesome treasures to little old me and I am so grateful! Normally I like to feature what is sent to me with a blog post, but lately I have been working insane hours and I've become a bit lazy. No more! For the sake of these giving individuals I will be featuring these kind donations every Monday.

So before ado is anymore furthered, I give you the first

Monday Mail Madness: Brian Lapsley's Surprise Box #2!

That's right, Brian didn't just send me 1 package, a few weeks earlier he already sent me a bunch of awesome and I haven't even posted about it yet! Don't worry though, I'll get to the first pack next time. In true Star Wars Fashion, I will create the sequel fist, followed by a prequel.

Brian is an artist. I love this piece he included on the box.

Speaking of Star Wars, Surprise Box #2 was full of treasures from a galaxy far, far away!

NEW TOYS!
There were a few other toys not pictured here. Ava quickly claimed them.
My absolute favorite of the lot is the amazing Micro Scale Jabba's Palace with neighboring Sarlacc Pit! Most definitely my favorite Star Wars toys of all time. I've always had a soft spot for micro scale toys. I just love how much detail is packed into such a small play set! It's looks right at home on my toy room floor. The tan carpet gives a nice desert-sand effect.

Beauty!

Just look at the detail on this guy!  Jim Henson, you are missed.

One nasty looking Sarlacc maw.

Omnomnom.

The front of Jaba's Palace opens up reveling his mighty throne.

Move Slave Leia, I can't see Salacious Crumb!
Even the trap door to the Rancor pit opens up, revealing the gnawed remains of the previously devoured.
This. Is. AWESOME!
The teeny tiny Han Solo frozen in carbonite is just so dang cool. Just look at it, it's tiny!
There was a mishap during shipping and one of the guns broke.
Luckily it's nothing a little Crazy Glue can't fix.
And as if this wasn't all enough, I even received a micro scale Slave One, parked in the back! Also, either Brian reads minds or follows my Instagram posts, because I recently came across a Tatooine Safari Luke and Mighty Max at the Redwood Swap Meet. They fit right in!
Dude, Luke, that's you sister man! Come on!

Thank you Brian! I will be having all sorts of crazy adventures on Tatooine with my new Jabba play set! I couldn't be happier!

Be sure to check out Brian's blog, Awake Oh Sleeper! He shares with the world his fantastic art style, cool toy finds, and an overall inside look at the mind of this extraordinary gentleman. I really enjoyed his first contribution to the League of Extraordinary Bloggers, go check it out HERE! And don't forget to check out Brian's skills with pen and ink right over HERE!

Dusty and Jerica's Collection: Sharkcruisers

Since it's the last day of Shark Week I thought it appropriate to share Dusty and Jerica's collection of Hot Wheels Sharkcruisers.

Several varieties of the Sharkcruiser have been released, I think there are 30 or so variants now! There is also the Hammer Down, a Hammerhead Shark inspired car. Now, the funny thing is half of these cars were a gift from yours truly. My little bro hasn't held his interest in toys nearly as much as myself. In fact, he's turned out to be more of a jock. He didn't even know what an Ewok was! I'm still trying to convince him we need to have a Star Wars marathon, but amazingly he refuses. However, he did agreed to a TMNT marathon. Baby steps.

My brother and I shared pretty much all our toys. Above is our original Sharkcruiser circa 1987. He's a little worse for wear, but he's still awesome! It even reads,"SHARK" right there on the side. I've been holding on to it all these years. It's time to pass the torch.

Since my brother is obssesed with sharks it gives me the perfect excuse to buy him shark related toys and rekindle that childlike wonder. Then maybe we won't have to talk about sports so much. Maybe I'll start collecting Street Sharks figures for him.

Nacho Average Knockoff

So I've been hunting for treasure during my hour lunch break at my newish job. It's a different part of town and I haven't really found any great antique shops or cool thrift stores. They're all kinda ghetto honestly. Now despite this I did find a hidden gem if you will. I give you, in this corner, Naaaaaachoooooo!

These Wrestling King figures come complete with "Twisting Head & Waist" and "Moving Arms & Legs". Wow!

I also wanted to show off my signed copy of Nacho Libre! Now I will be able to play with these hollow wrestling guys as we watch Nacho Libre every year. Though I am kind of afraid to let Ava play with these made in China toys. After all the card reads,"Under 36 months due to small parts not suitable for children."

Darkness Cometh

The toy realm has inevitably fallen to darkness. The once lush, green shag carpet fields of The Great Room have been reduced to a sickly brown. Decent toys live in constant fear. Death is everywhere.

In this place of darkness shines a ray of hope. Two mighty warriors, small in stature, but mighty in spirit. Tonto, a man haunted by his past, and Bounding Elk, last of the Mohicans, continue to fight against impossible odds in order to restore the land to its former glory. They may only stand 4 bricks tall, but with their spirit animals as their guides there is no stopping this dynamic duo! Can they pull it off? Will they survive the darkness? You decide!

Are you curious as to where all this darkness came from? Wanna know what the heck's going on? If you answered yes to either of these questions go check out The Diary of a Dorkette and learn more about this epic tale of good versus evil! The Darkness has come, FIGHT ON!

Also, check out @spacemason on Instagram for behind the scenes footage!

Being a product of the 80s it's only natural that I love Saturday morning cartoons and cold cereal. Sometimes look up old toons to watch on YouTube on Saturday mornings so I can fully enjoy my favorites. I give you Mason's Top 10 Favorite Cereals!

10. Wheaties

Ah yeah, Wheaties! Not only is it good for you, but MJ eats it! Better eat your Wheaties, it's the breakfast of champions.

9. Rice Krispies Treats Cereal

8. Frosted Mini Wheats

Not the most popular choice and a lame commecial, but I still enjoy a bowl full to this day.

7. Peanut Butter Crunch

I love peanut butter and I love Peanut Butter Crunch, even though it kinda scraps me gums up sometimes. It's a two-edged sword.

I remember this commercial like it was on last Saturday morning. Classic.

6. Cinnamon Toast Crunch

Now we're talkin', Cinnamon Toast Crunch ya'll! So good! I don't know what happened to the other Bakers, but the cereal is still going strong.

"Less sugar than I thought!" Ha ha ha, yeah right lady!

5. Lucky Charms

Technically a holiday themed cereal that can be enjoyed all year round! Heavily parodied commercial.

4. Rice Chex

Great cereal because Muddy Buddies and Peanuts commercials! Corn Chex are alright, but Wheat Chex are just plain nasty.

3. Crispix

One of those acquired tastes. Something about it just tickles my taste buds.

2. Kix

Another one of those kids-love-it-but-it's-okay-with-moms-cuz-it's-low-in-sugar cereals. I don't know why I like this one so much, it justs takes good and gives me warm fuzzies inside.

And Mason's number 1 most favorite cereal in the whole wide world is...

LIFE!

SO FREAKING GOOD! He likes it, hey Mason!

Raisin Life Cereal!? Gross!

What are your favorite cereals?
