I was pleasantly surprised to see these Nano MetalFigs for just 97 cents a piece at Wally World! Of course there were also Disney figs for 4 times that.
Now cute little Lord Voldemort terrorizes Tombstone Corners. I love that the fig is 100% die cast metal. They remind me of little pewter D&D figurines. The paint job is decent too. I will definitely be picking up more of these little guys.

This is my fist post/response to the Round Robin Challenge. It was hard to nail down exactly what my collecting obsession is, but after some soul searching I finally figured it out: I AM OBSESSED WITH CREATING WORLDS! This obsession with creating worlds explains why I love building toys (LEGO, Construx), micro toys (Mighty Max, Micro Machines, Trend Masters), hobby toys (model trains, Christmas & Halloween villages, etc.), table top gaming (D&D, War Hammer, Brik Wars), and good old play sets!

My earliest toy memory was when I was 4 or 5 years old, building the Blacktron Message Intercept Base (Set 6987-1). I still have bits and pieces from that set, and I hope to one day rebuild it. I have always loved the customizable nature of the LEGO brick. You really can create anything! I really miss the modular Classic Space base plates and I wish I had stocked up. Even considering just custom minifigures, there are millions of possible combinations of head, torso, legs, weapons, hats, etc., it is mind boggling! You really can build your own little world out of LEGO, though it can become very expensive. This is why I enjoy others' amazing creations, like Jang Bricks on YouTube, and the Construx Custom Designs Gallery.
My brother and I were huge fans of Galoob's Micro Machines and I still have a large collection of Z-Bots. This inevitably led to my love of Bluebird's Mighty Max series and all the other micro toys that flooded the market in the 90's. I loved that my parents could afford to buy me playsets, because they were so much cheaper in micro form.
Z-Bots Combots line, Tomahawk in custom desert scene. I simply used an old tan sheet as sand. Army men buckets are perfect for little accessories, like the barbwire fencing.
I also recall with fondness our family trips to the Intermountain Train Expo. I really want to visit again this year with my Dad and bring my kids along too. It was so cool seeing all the work and detail that went into those model trains and the surrounding landscape!
I recently started building a Halloween a few years ago when Tombstone Corners hit Dollar Tree stores. Ever since I visited Gardener Village in the fall as a kid and saw the Halloween villages there, I have wanted to create my own village. I have never played D&D or War Hammer, but I appreciate and marvel at the creativity of the games! I love the imagination and creativity that goes into a D&D game; and dedicated War Hammer players have created some incredible terrain and structures from everyday household rubbish!
And lastly, playsets and toy dioramas have always interested me. I did get some traditional playsets as a kid, like the Swamp Thing Swamp Trap playest (1990), and one of the Bat Cave playsets (I can't even remember which one to be honest, and a few others of note. I will be making a top 10 playset list of my personal favorites that I owned or really want). However, I always ended up creating playsets myself using cardboard or whatever else I could find. I recently created a playset from a cardboard apple box, Frogacuda's lair/toy room basement/sewer or something. The great outdoors is another quick and easy playset of sorts. Retroblasting puts it best with their video "Greatest Playsets you didn't 'buy'":

Another part I love about dioramas is crossing toy lines. Here we have Imaginext, The Real Ghostbusters, and Playmobil. The more the merrier!
I enjoy building in many different mediums. My 2015 ginger bread contest entry at work, Eversweet National Forest. I won first prize for Most Creative. That is real maple syrup in the candy lake.

Christmas 2014 was great, I really enjoyed watching Ava open her presents and I also came away with a few geeky sundries. Here are the highlights; enjoy and Happy New Year!
After almost nothing but rain we finally received a huge dumping of snow on Christmas Day!
Ava really got into Christmas this year. Her presents had an overall kitchen theme.
Santa told me he found this vintage 90's Disney's Snow White lunchbox with thermos at the DI for $1.50. The Jolly Guy can find some deals!
Santa find this little gem, Clue Little Detective, at the DI for just $2. Complete and in like new shape.
My wife got me a book that I've had my eye on for several years now, The Cult of LEGO! Maybe now I will finally join ULUG (The Utah LEGO User Group). Thank you Laura!
My siblings and I drew names for presents this year and Annie, the baby of the family, drew my name. She did not disappoint with her awesome gifts!
Annie gave me this awesome Hot Wheels logo T-shirt, along with a great Mario T-shirt!
Of course she also gave me some great little toys, these two Dino youngster you see above, as well as a beaver and a big old lizard.
Lastly, my little sis gifted me a $10 iTunes gift card, which I used to purchase the animated mini-series Over The Garden Wall. It's AMAZING! I have watched 3 times already and I can't get enough of it!
Weeks before Christmas we went to the Festival of Trees and spotted an awesome Napoleon Dynamite Christmas tree.

This magnificent "white pine" cost me FIVE BUCKS!!! This tree may be my greatest bargain hunt EVER! A couple years ago I marveled at the beauty of Laura Hughes tree of Boo Bobby. Ever since then I have wanted a white pine of my own and now I finally have one! There will be a Valentine's Day tree this year for sure!
31 cents ain't bad for these fun vintage style Santa ornaments, found on eBay.
Next month is January, time to make resolutions! I will be going bat poop crazy with organizational and financial goals, culling down the old toy collection and making it look like a crazy awesome toy museum or something. Hopefully I will be able to find some new homes for my access goodies and make some sweet moolah in the process. Stay tuned!

If you keep an eye out at the DIs, Goodwills, and Savers you can often spot Goosebumps for about 50 cents a pop.
If you follow the blog you may recall that I found the Goosebumps Shrieks and Spiders Game last Halloween, and I was missing just one "pog"! Well, I found another copy of the game and I was able to complete my original copy! Now I have some perfect Creepmas cards to mail out! Give me a shout out if you want a set of Goosebumps cards. The pogs are more limited, but what can ya do?
Yu-Gi-Oh, such a weird cartoon based on a card game. Or is it the other way around? I don't know, either way I spent hours of my childhood watching this cartoon but never had a desire to ever own any cards from the game. I recently came across someone's stash of once cherished Pokemon and Yu-Gi-Oh cards at a garage sale. Just $6 for a binder and a huge box of 'em. They're probably not worth a darn thing and I have no idea how to play, or what Yu-Gi-Oh means. Never the less I like them as trading cards because the artwork's pretty cool.
There were tons of individual card protectors that were a nice added bonus.
Did anyone else watch Yu-Gi-Oh or Pokemon as a kid? Did you play the card game? How the heck do you play? All I know is there's something about a grave yard and life points. Is the Blue Eyes White Dragon really all that rare?

Yet another amazing board game find! Kreskin's ESP circa 1967. I picked this puppy up for just $1 at a garage sale! This game caught my eye right away. Just look at the guy on the cover! It's like he hypnotized me into buying this awesome game, though that wouldn't be at all necessary!

So the main idea of the game is to utilize your natural ESP (Extra Sensory Perception) in order to answer those burning questions in your life. I don't know if you can really "win".
