Creepmas Day 8: Mother 4

This is the perfect Creepmas present for that "gamer" on your list. Mother 4 is the fan made sequel to Nintendo's cult classic Mother series, known as Earthbound in the US. Earthbound (Mother 2) for the SNES is known for Giygas, one of the most disturbing bosses in video game history. I still haven't played Earthbound all the way through, but I remember watching my friend Karl play. The music is amazing, the story is engaging, funny, and creepy at times.

Mother 4 looks to be everything that made Mother 1-3 so great and more. The game is 100% free and will be free to download from the website this winter! If you haven't played any of the Earthbound games then you are really missing out! When Mother 4 comes out download it and try it! You have nothing to lose, it's FREE!

Are there any other Mother fans out there in the blogosphere? What do you think of the new game?

Creepmas Day 6: From The LEGO Bin - 4753 Sirius Black's Escape

I found this set at my parent's house a while back. They purchased it for my younger sister and she had very little interest in it, so I snatched it up for free. Luckily it was almost 100% complete and I was able to find missing pieces from a LEGO bin I found at a garage sale. It's a nice little set and the perfect Creepmas decor. The Harry Potter movies are perfect for winter viewing (as are the LOTR films). [Side note: Check out my list of Creepmas movies from last year.]

I haven't watched Harry Potter and The Prisoner of Azkaban for a while, so I had to make up the details of this scene/set. I think it went something like this...

4753: Sirius Black's Escape

Sirius Black

Harry Potter

It's a fun little set, I especially like the Buckbeak figure. He's the only minifigure scale griffin that I know of. The dementor is a real treat, but those darn arms are so easily lost. Luckily I found an extra arm in my blue garage sale bin. This was one of the first sets to defect to the hideous new flesh toned minifigures. Oh well, I still like them.

If anyone has a spare glass goblet and rat figure then please let me know, that's all I need to make this set 100% complete.
Thank you and Merry Creepmas!

Fungal Friday:Halloween In A Garbage Can!

It started out innocent enough, it was a beautiful autumn morning and I decided to take Baby for a nice walk.

We hadn't even walked a block when I came across a tightwad's paradise, the ultimate FREE sign!

No cheapskate like myself can resist such an offer, so we strolled over to the porch first.

A nice couple of owls, perfect for Halloween!

Here's what I pulled from the porch.

The baby looks really sinister

classic yarn art

The flowers really jump out on this one!

This one is my favorite! I hope I can convince Laura into letting me keep it.

Nice, this stuff takes me back to the 60s and 70s! Of course I was born in the 80s, but hey, who doesn't love yarn art?

After I picked through the porch trash I stopped and looked at the dumpster for a minute. Now I've never been a dumpster diver, but I just had to have a peek!

Oh look, an old DI bag. That's usually the mark of a hoarder.

Yes, I pulled a few things out of the trash. My first dumpster dive. I feel dirty. Trash Man and Joe Eyeball would be proud! I left the cans of food, here's what I pulled.

Definatly needs a good scrub

What is this thing? It opens from both ends.

Just look at this cutie! Saved from a life in the dump, just needs to go through the wash. I freaking love owls!

My wife will never wear this. I guess I'll have to wear it when I cook.

All in all, a very profitable stroll! I know my wife won't let any of this into the house. Besides the negative stigma attached to dumpster finds, she also doesn't like "old stuff". Oh well, I can always sell this great junk on Etsy or to a consignment shop. They eat this stuff up!

Vintage!

My sister wants the little owl friend. We seem to share a similar love for good old vintage items. What do all ya'lls think? Have I reached hobo status? Does anyone want any of this stuff?

Here Comes Halloween. Let's Decorate!

Many of us are already participating in the Countdown to Halloween and Blog-o-ween, so this topic will be a bit of a softball. This week’s assignment for the League of Extraordinary Bloggers
Here comes Halloween!

Let's Decorate!

It's time to bust open that orange and black bin that's been hiding in the garage all year and spread some Halloween cheer! This year I received a very generous Halloween present, a big ol' bin o' Halloween decorations! And it was 100% FREE baby!

Ghost string lights and 200 orange string lights were in here!

FREE strobe light!

This guy's fun.

I haven't gotten around to putting up anything from that awesome bin yet, but not to worry, my wife is a crafty one!

The welcome mat is a Halloween decoration, but we leave it out all year.

Look at that, my wife made this! It really looks amazing on our purple door.

With all the lights we got this year the house is gonna look just amazing. It will be nothing compared to some other homes. Halloween is pretty big here in Utah. Almost as big as Christmas!

Curbside Treasures!

I found this old desk drawer on the curb and it called out to me instantly! I knew it would make a great display case just by looking at it. The funny thing was the previous owner had used it as a display case, so I didn't need to add any hardware in order to hang it because they had already added hooks to the back! However, it needed a serious paint job so I sprayed it with some white pray paint. NEVER AGAIN will I spray paint, it was a horrible experience. Never spray paint while wearing flip-flops. At least it looks at half-way decent now.

I also found a practically brand new Scrabble box! I love Scrabble, even though I don't really play the game much anymore. I like to use the wooden stands and letter tiles to leave little cutsie notes for my wife. They're also great for little craft projects. I can't believe people throw this stuff away! I should make a list of treasures and have people send them my way, instead of throwing them away! That's actually not a bad idea, I think I may do that. Perhaps a future post.
